I had my car to the chassis dyno yesterday and did some tuning with the current torker manifold and 850 holley and then changed to a victor manifold. With jet changes and the manifold we had just over 30hp increase but the carb air/fuel ratio was not spot on and couldn't fix it. The dyno op decided a bigger carb would definetly help but didn't have any to try. He suggested that i go up to 950cfm and that should be plenty but i thought a 1050cfm would be better in case of future cam upgrades etc.
496 rb
10.5 comp
slightly ported eddy performers
solid 565"lift 274 duration @50
victor intake gasket matched
727 auto
stalls at 4000
3.91 rear gears
295/65/15 tyres
So what do you all think or recomend any input is appreciated.

That many Cubic inches I would definatly go with the 1050.

i agree with drag dart. buy a pro systems dominator ( custom made for ur engine combination). i just got one. worked rite out of the box. just had to set the idle. worth the cash. stay safe, seeya.

Should it be an 4500 dominator or would a 4150 base 1050 be right?

Do you foot brake it or a trans brake it... I would
put a 1050 (4500) on it

Haven't run it yet but will only be foot braking it when i do. The Victor i just put on is only a 4150 pattern, hood clearens is a slight issue with an adapter. I have read other post before about those adapters but i wonder if it will be to tall for my engine combo?

I might think about a 950 so it has a quicker response
since you foot brake but on a trans brake I like bigger...
how may revs do you plan on
Or get a custom carb with a 4150 base but flows in the
1050 to 1100 cfm range

It runs out at about 6000 rpm. I was looking at the Quickfuel Q-950 or the Q-1050 4150 base. The price is only $50 between them but i don't want buy something that isn't going to be right.

I have a 4150 base 950 on my 572 and it works great but i am thinking about a 1050 dominator 4500 base but i am on ALCOHOL i think you need a 950 or 1050 but if you go to a dominator i think a 4500 base and put a 2" adapter it makes more power or that`s what INDY saying that`s just me GOOD LUCK.

What kind of power did it make?

Harley it made 400 at the rear which i thought was a bit low but the dyno man said because of the size tyre's i have it will make it read low By the way he did not build the engine. Steeldust I have hood clearance issuse so i was trying to stay away from a 2"spacer. I think i will go to a 1050 quickfuel from what you are all saying it should be quite acceptable.

talk to Patrick,Prosystems.his price is right.
personally i don't buy tyre size guff.it is only a factor to set up the dyno.though some 4.10's won't hurt with that cam
really i would hope to be making some more power and if it has all gone by 6000 i would be looking at your whole fuel system
good luck

What was the Horse power ? Did you get the Air /fuel readings? Mine was making 470 with the sixpack and I could only get the A/f to 13.7 after putting 88 in the outboards. I am now trying a Victor myself so looking to see what you had for jets also.

G'day 4406brl it made 400 at the back which I was disappointed but the dyno man thought it was preety good The a/f would only get to 12 at the max with 80 square and no power valve in the back. We tried leaning and riching but couldn't get the a/f good. The power was leveling out at mid throttel and then going up to peak. It was also holding negative vacumn under the carb according to the readings. The carb is definetly holding it back.
