When I first got my Coronet it had a stock 383 out of a '71 Newport. It was a 4bbl and dual exhaust engine rated at 300hp and 410lbs of torq. Stock converter and 3.23 gears. I switched to the XE262H Comp cam, Weiand intake and ran the 600 Edelbrock with headers. Ran pretty good for what it was. I've done a bunch of changes since then.

So, if I were you, I'd run the XE262H with a 650 or 670 carb. That would make a nice driver with some fun. Run the steel shim gasket. They were used on our engines out of the factory.
