If you are keeping it computer controlled, after you fire it up you will need to take it to someone like a dealership and have your fuel sync set. Yes, the orientation of the slot in the oil pump gear is exactly what I'm trying to ensure is correctly aligned, given that the motor is curently sitting at TDC on the firing stroke. I'm trying to avoid having to take the truck to the dealer after this motor is installed in the truck. I combed thru the factory service manual and it has no mention about the installation of the oil pump drive and the orientation of the slot. I know I have seen this in the service manual for earlier years of the small block and big block motors, so I'm suprised that I can't find this info for the 5.9 motor.
