As close to the rad as you safely can w no shroud but you are running one as you should so that changes the requirement & w them you want the blades ~2/3 of the way into the rear side of the shroud. MP thermal clutch fan w a fixed 7 blade is the best but just tossing on a fixed 7 blade one from your stash (w no clutch) will ans the Q if it is strickly an inadequate fan prob (my that's it) WO you having to purchase the good thermal clutch fan which just engages/disengages when it gets hot but is not magical for upping the CFM but only saves HP by it's being disengaged until the heat rises to a certain level
