Not trying to be critical, but I have a suggestion, if not just for future reference.
I think I would have had all the sandblasting done before welding the connectors and anything else in. After blasting, you can use a "weld-through" primer on the captured areas that would be covered by the frame connectors. This way, it would not only improve the quality of the weld, it would prevent corrosion in the areas that are boxed in. Corrosion inhibitor could also be sprayed in through the gas discharge holes in the connector as well, but needs a clean surface to adhere to.
Welding on a corroded or dirty surface will cause the shielding gas contamination that perpetuates imperfections in the weld.
