Ok, your talking a TORQUE monster 440, not a 318 here. IMHO for a 90% street/10% strip car with loads of torque, the 3.55's should get the job done. My 78 LRT came with a 3.55 Open 9.25 and it is ok but running over 3200 RPM at 60 MPH is the pits if driving over 25 miles. I must wear ear plugs if going any farther. It is compounded by having those twin stacks right behind the head. I could not live with anything like 4.10's without a OD trans. I will be putting a set of 3.21's with a SG in a 9.25 in my LRT soon. But I also have a 3200 RPM lockup converter that I will be putting in too. Now give me a A-518 OD and I may put in some 4.56's as that will get me back below 3.55's in OD.
