Leon, to me this and race engines are basically the same thing, getting more power from the same amount of fuel I like your "diesel" theory this has nothing to do with the subject but I remember that saab experimented with variable cr, very high under light load and less with higher load, worked well but I guess it was to expensive to produce just pretty hard to do on a v8
