I would locate another oe lock ring and use a gasket the same thickness as the oe one (reuse your old one if it's OK & most are). The oe lock ring will still have plenty of tension as you tap it around and w no sealer used on that gasket reusing it is no problem, just wipe it off and make sure the tank surface in there is clean.
