Like said above hit it with a fine point file to just get the edges smoothed down to the rest of the surface. It is stated that it is already polished and further polishing with crocus cloth wil take as much off the rest of the shaft as the nick or if just hitting th earea of the nick it is possible to create a flat spot that is not wanted. A small file is not flexible and easier to control to just ake off the above surface edges.
