Flex fans have come a long ways in the last 10 years. Failures are rare anymore. Most the blades are stainless and a good flex fan will move more air at idle than any fixed blade OEM style fan. HP savings can be considerable. A flex fan is the only way to go if your not going electric - or not doing any off roading.
