Depends on what you mean by "later" model alt. This is a 120 amp denso from a 2001 Ram van, $13 at my local pick-n-pull on 1/2 price day along with a 70/later electonic voltage regulator ($12). Simple to make mounts and simple to wire. Feed goes to hot stud/remote mount battery, sensor wire goes to hot @ starter relay where I also pull power for all my relays. Very inexspensive and works perfectly.
