1. There's but a single field - it's an isolated field alternator. Splitting hairs notwithstanding...

2. If you ground out one of the terminals internally (as opposed to making the ground an externally visible jumper), please, Please, PLEASE do something with the now grounded spade to render it unusable so that there will be no doubt that something different is going on internally. This is not just for you to remember to which spade the regulator's wire gets connected. It's also to save the next shmoe who might unknowingly find that alternator on his best friend's 1969 Super Bee, and melt some wires. DAMHIK.
