You will need to hammer or press the support off. There are no clips holding it on. There is an oiling issue from the cooler , the cooler return supplies lubrication for the geartrain. Most likely the support is galled and has a ridge on it holding it in place


Makes sense - am I at risk of damaging the output shaft in either case or is it hard enough to not worry about that?
