I think Irwindale adapoted using the FOAT for pre entry to control the number of entrants from Covid "restricitons". I believe they have kept it as it makes the process easier for them. FWIW we had no issue last March when the car never made a pass getting a refund. I think many venues went to the FOAT will stay that way. It seems NMCA is not going back. NHRA uses both now for divisionals, all nationals are pre entry only with a quota. I think using things like the FOAT gives the a better handle on what is going to happen count wise. But the smart money will still take gate entries like NHRA and the Flings have done.
