Most of those old dual brake switches actually interrupted the cruise control and turned on the brake lights.
that's what i was going to say. it unlatches the cruise unit, but i forget if it goes through the control on the turn signal stalk, or the unit itself under the hood. would be a super easy thing to wire up.
