I’m looking at a 74 Cuda for sale and upon inspection and driving noticed the pistol grip shifter wasn’t quite centered in the hump hole and console. Crawled under the car and confirmed the motor to be #s matching but the tranny case is stamped 68. However it has a dual shifter mount tail shaft like a 70 and up would have. Appears like a 70-up tail shaft has been installed on a 68. But I would have thought if the original one was installed that would have had the correct shifter bracket. Any ideas on this one? When driving, the shifter is so far off center to the rear it hits the console in 2nd and 4th gears.

Thanks.
