Of all places to get scammed, I had it happen from renewing my registration at the DMV several years ago. At the time, I could almost see the DMV from my house I lived so close, yet, in that short amount of time, charges started appearing from Chicago. It was my CU debit/charge Visa card. My CU locked the card immediately. I went back to the DMV and they were like 'not our problem'. Luckily, the charges were less than $30 and my CU reimbursed me.

I still use a card at the DMV, but I check my account before I even leave their driveway.
