I got a NOS cable for my '79 W150. Mine works but I put a new gauge in and got the cable for good price so want to replace it too. Since the NOS one has been shelfed for long time I want to lube. I thought the cable on these pulled out of housing for lubrication but it does not. Isn't it supposed to? Nothing in FSM. I don't want to use a dry lube because I believe it's probably lubed from factory with a grease type lube. Can I spray something like lithium grease down the housing? Should the cable pull out of the housing like I've done with others? Or should I just install right out of the box?

Thanks. Larry
