If I understand the original posters statement they have one of the original build sheets that the reproduction fender tag would be made off of.
The build sheet shows more than the fender tag ever did as to how the car was built.

As long as the build sheet stays with the car it shows how the car was built originally.

Documentation (the build sheet) on the car is what's key above everything else.


With that said, personally I don't give a rats azz whether a car has a fender tag or not.

I either like a car or I don't, I'd rather see a day two or modified car that someone has made their own every time.

I'll leave the whole date coded matching numbers thing to someone else that's usually in it for the "potential investment value".
