That is never done in California due to our property taxes based on what we paid for the house and any additions, not remodels.
California is simply horrible! To think last year we completed $100k in upgrades and taxes went up only the obligatory 2%/year over the base (purchase year). Equally horrible any time there is a decrease in value one asks the assessor to revise taxes downward, provided average neighborhood value is drawn down. We really are fortunate.
100K upgrade in California. What did you get for that, new downspouts. Lol.
