That is why I like the HF style versus the C clamp style puller. I have not had any trouble getting any pulley off and some of them have been sitting outside for decades. If HF is defective, then a better manufacture, but there are two side sides on those halves and it does have to be put on the pulley correctly.
Yea, it was on the correct side. The metal halve was made lopsided on the one half and didn`t notice it until too late. One question, ( Not trying to high jack the post) but can a key slot Saginaw pump be used instead of a press on pulley type pump?Do they interchange as far as the brackets and pulleys on a early to mid 70`s small block? I would prefer to use a key slot style.
