One of the long standing complaints about the Fel-Pro 1009 is how close to the bore the fire ring is. I didn't have any problems with a 4.375" where there was basically no chamfer left at the top of the cylinders and the chambers were small enough to not leave the fire ring exposed anywhere. However, others posted about problems, including torching the tops of the block in between cylinders.

Is there a reason why you're not looking into an MLS head gasket, especially given the CR you have?
