52 here... started street racing the Mirada in 87. Took it to the track in 91. Been racing to some extent since. Chased points in maybe only four of those years, the most recent 3rd in the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series 3yrs ago. Like many I took a break when my daughter hit the fast pitch softball era. That required a ton of time I was glad to share. What I’ve found over the years is it’s not the wins I remember, but the moments with some of the most whacked out people you’ll ever meet and they become family! Cookouts, beer drinking, repairing the seemingly impossible with the minimal, all made for great memories! In 2012 my dad hung up his helmet after our W5 mill expired. I sold the Mirada($7500.... not a bad price for a running bracket car with some 9sec slips) after 27 years and kept the Duster in the family. While I’ve had dreams and aspirations of racing more, I seem to spend more time and $ working on it.... but I got a 5.7 out of it carrying the fronts to 1/2 track! laugh2
