Lots of folks saying JY starters are a better choice than junky rebuilt stuff, pontificating that OEM stuff of unknown age/condition is surely better.

But where do the rebuilt ones come from? Duh, they come from OEM starters that died.

And don't forget, rebuilt starters find their way into junkyards, too...

As for JY being cheaper? For me the parts store is significantly closer, plus it saves me removal time on the JY vehicle. I take a core in with me and eliminate the return trip. Overall, parts store = cheaper to me.

So I'd say flip a coin for where you get it -- only hindsight shows what's right.
