Anyone bother to read the directions when putting on a new filter?

Wix:

Spin on the new filter. When the gasket contacts
the mounting base, rotate the filter 3/4 turn.

Fram:

Screw new filter on until gasket reaches base contact. Then tighten according to instructions on filter using tightening guide markers.

Cummins:

Carefully read the installation instructions printed on the outside of the filter to determine the number of turns the filter must to be rotated past gasket contact for proper installation and gasket compression.

Purolator:

Tighten the amount specified for your filter beyond gasket contact (3/4, ¾ - 1, etc)

They all also state use CLEAN oil and not grease.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.
