Purple beeper you are correct. Pan depth does not matter, just holds more oil. It is the oil level below the pan rail. I would find a tube that fits and dipstick. Fill engine with oil, depending on pan size. Then mark dipstick. That is how I did my 440 truck with an 8 quart pan. My dipstick mounts into pan.
