Lots of good info here. One thing I haven't seen mentioned is adjusting the metering rods. The most recent kits I have bought omitted this step in the instructions. Over in the Tech Archives is an old thread that covers this and has some other info as well.
I've used TQ's for years, my current one is the best of my efforts. No bogs, no burning eyes, good idle, easy starting. If you can get over your fears, the TQ is actually pretty easy to work on.
