That ground was omitted in '70-on. They molded the ground into the negative cable that screwed into the radiator support near the battery.


And later they added that ground back, must be a reason for that. Unless it's a perfect resto, I'd put a ground strap from the back of the head to the mounting bolt for the VR, then you know it's as good as it gets. I'd rather do that than scrape paint off the firewall for a good contact anyway. Heck I even added a ground from my alternator case to the block, but I don't do resto type vehicles.
