Buy Mitutoyo.
They are pretty tough and best bang for your buck. I'm a machinist. I have quite a few Mitutoyo measuring tools. Out of all the Mitutoyo tools I've purchased, I've never had even one issue. Ever.
I've been doing this for over 20 years now.
