New bearings will loosen up the preload after some miles but I agree thats alot and seems to loose. I am guessing you set the initial pinion bearing preload about 30 in/lbs when you built the rear and used new bearings ? Cant say thats your problem but sounds like you may have to remove some shim if the preload is still very loose after you make sure the pinion nut is tight. ? Ron
