Wrong.

If the crank sensor stops sending the correct info the computer can assume the sensor is correct and that the engine is no longer running. The computer stops all engine functions and waits for you to restart. When the faulty crank sensor doesn't see the engine turning the computer doesn't initiate the run programming.

Bad sensors do not always throw a code.
