A couple of things come to mind here;

First, if you like the ETGenie, why not just mill the 1" off the intake for the clearance that you need?

And before you make any changes to the new carb, you should run it and get some readings with a wide band. Otherwise you are just guessing as to what (if anything) needs attention and by how much.
