Joe,
I'm sincerely thrilled to be able to ask you a question. I'm 54 years old and was a huge Pro Stock fan during the early 70's. What do you consider to be the most memorable Pro Stock race or gathering of that era and why?
Frank

Frank,

This is a tough one to answer but if I had to put a stake in the ground I would say the 1973 Winternationals. That year the race was won by Don Nicholson and the Mopar Missile was runner up. But the significant thing was that even with NHRA's extra weight penalty against the Hemi's, we were able to run up there with the Chevys and Fords. If it was not for an electrical problem, we would have won that race hands down. No question about it. At that race the competition was as good as it ever got - we were running the de-stroked Hemi and it flew. The weight breaks put the cars close together and it was FUN. Even though Murphy was alive and well and he struck us down, we had one heck of a race and a great time.
