Bristol - without a doubt. I just loved the place for some reason. The sound of the cars was great. The people had to be about the friendliest people you would ever run across. And - the pits were paved!!! That was a big deal back then.
As far as a neat little backwoods place - there was a little 1/8 mile strip just outside of Hudson NC that we had a key to. We would go over there to run in a new engine every once in a while. What made this place so neat is that the shut down area ran right up the side of a mountain. It probably gained 200' in what I guessed was a little more than another 1/8 mile!
