Reason I ask this question is that my 2002 2500 had a catch can just behind the radiator. When it got full from oily moisture the fans would scatter that mess all over the back of the radiator. Older trucks had a overheating problem because of this. Some of the diesel forums had suggestions on re-locating the catch can to the D/S wheel well.

I know some of these trucks, 03-05 I think and the new 6.7's have a crankcase vent filter on the valve cover. Is this what you're talking about?
