^ but to go opposite to that, the parts manual says:

RADIATOR CORE FAN SHROUD B/J W/383, 440 Eng. W/22" Core W/O A/Cond. 2998328 (same as B body).

It also lists radiator:

B,J,R,W 70 440 22" No Air conditioning stamped 2998960 part # 2998957

Also the same as above for 383, but as well for 383 lists the same PART #, with 2998954 as a stamping # and 2998957 as a stamping # with A/C)...

So, my guess is that as a possibility, they ran out of some rads on the line. Shift supervisor ok'd a replacement, and those were used. It was noted, and made it into the final version of the parts book.

Now logic to me says, if you have a 440 in an E body, a shroud is a must...so I would think the ones that got the small rad, got a shroud (2998328).

I think on the BS if it listed a 22" (would that be 60?) you would get a shroud, or maybe if it was an export (Canada) car it could be X55? (radiator air shield 70-71)
