A 3/8 pipe nipple to extend it out works nice, then
screw on a 3/8 female to #10 an fitting... that will
get you out far enough to clear...(clean any burr
on the nipple ID)
EDIT
If you already have the 3/8 male fitting and dont have
a female you can use a 3/8 coupling with it
