Yes. Always better to be a little under it rather than over it.

Especially if your running a dep pan I run the Mopar steel dep pans and try to run it at the add line when cold or between the bottom of the dipstick and the add line when hot, whatever turns your crank As long as it is showing on the stick in nuetral with the motor running your probally good

Thanks for the replies. Yes it does have a steel deep pan with the cooling ports. We put one qt in the converter and 6 qts in the pan and it shows about 1/2 inch above full cold. We had the trans out because we had a bad leak in the bell housing. We found the converter cracked at the mounting lugs and a crack in the hub. Had trans guy change all the seals, put in a fresh rebuilt JW converter. Still leaking from the bell housing.

I hope it's just too full. I'm going to drain about a qt and see if it still leaks.

Any other ideas? Is there anything in the trans that could go bad to make it leak out the vent?

Thanks
