I took the car to work today to fix the leaking rear housing gasket and was telling one of the body guys about my problem. Well he has a mid 10 second small block Camaro (what else is new) and I guess this is pretty common on the Chevys as well. He says he takes some 80 grit sandpaper and scuffs up the outer surface of the guide where the seal goes on and that gives it something to hold on to. Says it works for him so I guess I'll give that a try and see how it goes. I'll let you all know.

What I've done in the past is use a small pointed
punch on them... give it about a dozen punch marks
(it will displace the metal outwards and leave a
ridge around it) that give the seal bit
