the c-6 is better than a 727.

That's a rather unique opinion.

I guess you never had a 727 blow up on you yet...

No big differences between a C6 and a 727. Both used the Simpson planetary design as did the GM Turbo Hydramatics. It was common in the 70's for Ford racers to put a 727 gearset in their C6 case. NHRA put a stop to this by checking for park in the transmissions because the parking lever wouldn't work in a C6 with the 727 gears.

I've seen Fords and GM scatter transmissions like a 727 in the past.

I've built 904/998/999's, 727's, C6's FMX's, C4's, TH 400's, TH 350's, PG's, 700R4, 4L60E's, 42RH's, 44/46/47RH's and 42/46/47/48RE's. As well as countless front wheel drive transaxles. They all go bad. The TorqueFlites don't have any more inherent problems than any other transmission. C6's are a poor copy of a 727 as is the C4 a poor copy of the 904. They put the servos in the side of the case so when they are applied they tend to spread the case.

But back to the OP, just put a GM trans behind your GM engine, BB and SB are the same pattern, sell your 727 and turn in your man card.
