From what I've seen from the cars I've disassembled, it appears that the body was assembled except for the hood, and possibly the trunk. But I believe most had the truck installed when the car was painted because the mount point didn't get painted, and the bolts were painted.
Hood bolts on a 1970 cuda I had were plated, not painted. On this 1972, however, it appears as if the hood was painted on the car...
