Custom headers are the ONLY way to go. Mine are 2" to 2 1/8" stepped fenderwell headers that my friend made for me from Hooker flanges and tubing that I bought from Jegs.
Here's why they are worth every penny:
I can remove them from the car in less than 1/2 hr.
I can replace the starter in about 10 minutes. (nothing is in the way)
There is not a single ding, dent, or sharp bend on them.
When I put the car on the rear bumper in Chicago (wheelie bars were in the trailer
) I dinged the oil pan and tranny pan, but did not touch the headers.
I can load/unload my car on any open or enclosed trailer and the headers will not drag or hang the car up.
