I have a pair of doors from an AAR that was parted out in the early 80s.The panel under the poor panel has been masked and painted organsol. The car was Plum Crazy. It appears to be factory.Anybody ever seen this?

It was done with the door panel and gasket off the door. The paint line under the gasket doesn’t line up with the gasket line. The doors were painted gloss black on the outside and in the jam but no gloss under the gasket. Could this be to hide the purple when the door was open? If so what other colors did they do this to?

Maybe someone sprayed cheap undercoater in a can on it after they bought it, because they didn't like seeing the purple when the door was open?
Will the black stuff melt when you rub it with thinner?

Could be but there isn't any on the gasket although they might have renmoved it.Lacquer thinner took it off.Wasn't organsol lacquer based?

Looks like what was a common practice back in the day, (70'-80"s)...cheap repaint, but in another color, so the jams were usually spraybombed, or brushed in some form of flat black, some shops would even do that to blackwall tires that they were too lazy to cover up from the overspray,....they'd have a kid brush on some thinned roofing tar,...I kid you not!, seen it happen

Zbart I think thats the name I run a resto shop in NC and had a 1973 charger to restore and it had zbart everywhere in the jambs, under hood.Thats my 2cents
Exactly..
My 70 runner was done this way. It was a pain welded in all the holes they drilled to spray in the rockers and so on.
