Ok, so I need to purchase a 70 style trim piece then...do they both have the same mold design? I want to make sure it will line up and match my 71 headlight bezels...Thanks!
Do you have a 70 or 71 Challenger?
71's have the lip on the bottom that would be correct for a 71.
Both styles will match up to 70 or 71 Bezels. For years people used 70 hood moldings on 71s as that is what Mopar superceded the molding to.

Maybe it was the SE, also had a wide bright trim (1-1.5" wide)?

That is 71 Challenger only hood periphery molding. No 71 SE's. And was not part of the A78 formal roof package on 1971 Challengers. It was a stand alone option ordered on roughly 10% of R/T and roughly 10% non R/T's.

autoxcuda is right, as my car is a 71 Chally RT - A78 "Formal Roof" package car. I cant believe mine doesnt have it, because its a 2 fender tag car with Special order & "999" paint codes, along with every other molding upgrade, but not the wide fender molding. And to my knowledge its more like 3-4" wide molding, very cool looking, Ive even thought about getting some for mine anyway just cuz I like it...lol, but back to the original topic, I had to replace my hood, my car was stolen from previous owner and it was missing a tie rod and the thief didnt know it, so it took off into a tree when they started down the road...luckily it was just the hood and fender that took the hit...My hood is from a 70 Im pretty sure, seams like we had to fill the holes where 70's have the "DODGE" lettering on top, and mine has holes on the front edge as if to fasten the trim with...Will both work though was my question...Thanks

My 71 R/T has the wide hood molding, and A46 molding package, and rocker molding.

Yep, the 70 style will work on a 71.

Do you know the exact code for the wide fender molding? Mine has: M31, M42, M44, M91, M21, A46 & A78
Thanks!
does the wide hood treatment fit on any 70-71 hood? or does have to have a special hood to mount the wide trim on it?

The wide lip moulding will only fit the 71 hood, the 70 hood has a different structural steel on the under side that a couple of the moulding studs will be short. I know
