Hey guys, trying to install my Hooker Super Comps in my 65 B body! all good til I tried to tighten up the single tube that goes on driver side rear exhaust port. It obviously needs some manipulation of its 2" tube to clear the frame but how much can I beat it before I am wasting its performace end?
Its a 500" stroker with cast 452 heads. I know someone is gonna say TTI by the time I get to read a reply.

If you cut the flange between the tubes, do you think it will help?

I cant really do much with it. It is the tube that is the single and wraps around the torsion bar. It is shaped like a big "L" and slip fits into collector. Its touching the frame . I think it would need just under 1/2"to clear so the flange can sit properly on the head for a seal.

What about making a alum spacer OR cut the tube and add
a little tubing

I think it has to much tubing, but its another issue. Already ceramic coated, needs a good bashing.. Or just bite the TTI bullet. Looks like hours of work to re-install many times til fitment is clear them half a tube is wasted.

For me its easy... I would cut and add/subtract the
amount of tubing to make it fit nice... since your taking
a single tube you can have it re-coated pretty cheap...
I'm not a fan of beating the tubes in

I would cut the pipe of just above where it is hitting the frame, bolt the top part on the head, put the bottom piece in the collector , rotate, cut and put in a bend or bends to piece together. Weld up and get it recoated. Got to be cheeper than a set of new headers, you might have the same problem with ITT's

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I ended up cutting and rotating a tube on my Super Comps for my 64 Belvedere. These are strange headers. I've had 3 sets for early B-Bodys. The 1st set I had to make 1 left tube. The second set fit perfect (same car and cylinder heads). The 3rd set I made 1 tube a flattened a 2nd tube. Both were on plates and I could move the engine for the best fit. I agree I would remake the 1 tube.
