Hey guys!

for the last couple of nights Ive been installing a new carpet in my '69 Super Bee w/ auto. I see the Moparts posts related to proper positioning of the gas pedal on the heel pad, and have attempted to duplicate those, with the pedal located on the front right side of the pad.

My problem is that when I finally get the carpet far enough forward to position the pedal on the pad, the front carpet no longer overlaps the rear and the molding of the carpet no longer matches the contours of the floor.

Looks to me like the heel pad on this carpet is installed maybe a few inches too far back. is this common to all ACC carpets? I ended up having to install the gas pedal with it just barely overlapping the front of the heel pad.

Thanks!
Paul

My heel pad was never anywhere close to my gas pedal. There's a floor mat over it afterward anyway so I couldn't care less.

This company has had quality control issues for years. I have bought several sets and had mixed results. My 70 Charger carpet, bought in 2003, was/is too short on the sides and toward the front. It stops just barely above the gas pedal. From the back seat, you SHOULDN'T see the bare firewall. You can in my car. I'd replace it if I knew that the new set would fit better.

Put ACC in my Charger and had enough to go everywhere and look right.

ACC carpets are ALWAYS either too stort, or too narrow, or both. I stopped using them years ago for this exact problem. One of the better "inexpensive" carpet kits is Auto Carpet Systems. I haven't tried one from ECS, but I'm told they not only fit perfectly, but there's also enough there that some trimming is needed.

Bought my set over 20 years ago - the underpadding was all in the wrong places.

I see quality hasn't changed !!

FWIW it sounds like you tried to do match the factory position.. I saved this photo a couple years ago, an original carpet with the factory cutout for the accelerator pedal...

my answer is simply enought like: NO I WASN'T ABLE TO MATCH IT... at least the front section... rear section fit perfect

Thanks guys!

You wonder why they cant make carpet that just fits... with all the trimming and holes punched out.

If they could do it for the assembly line when the cars were new, why cant they do it today? I know its supposed to be due to production tolerances in the cars, but come on... how far off are tolerances on the floor pan really?

Thanks!
