Finally got the 440 to a buddies to change check valve springs and do a leak down. Well the leak do was interesting after roughly 90 passes 6 cylinders are at 15 to 20 percent leakage and 2 are almost 60 percent. The heads don't seem to hold a valve job, anyone else with stage vi or aluminum heads period having a problem.

no idea I hope it's not an issue. I have a set on my 440-6. Sure the intake is sealed up nice? Valley pan sealed?

Did you have the valves ground before you put the
heads on.... MP has a bad valve job on most all of
their heads from the factory(if you want to call it
a valve job)

I bought the engine from a guy 3 years ago that said it had 35 passes on it.We cut the filer open looked at it (looked fine)never did a leak test. Unloaded saturday night and it didn't sound good so we did a leak test and found intake vales leaking.Did a valve job and Put it back in ran great for aawile (90 passes near as I can tell).Just not sure what to do if they will still have issues.

the intake seat inserts often "move" on stage 6 heads.
either intake or exhaust can be the culprit, but its usually the intakes that have the issue.
if the heads have had intake valves larger than 2.14 installed, and had the seats cut accordingly, then you can pretty much count on the seats moving.

recheck the biggest offenders and see where it seems like the air is going.
if its out the intake manifold......then the seats have moved.
the only real cure is to install new, bigger seats with more of an interference fit.

Dwaynes phone number is in his profile. Give him a call! You won't talk to a nicer, knowledgable person! R&J Performance in Hudson,Iowa did my Stage VIs..But you would have to wait a long time. He is up to his ears in S&S Pro Stock Harley heads now...There is also a guy in Carrol,Iowa that may be able to do them. I will see if I can find his number...Ted
