I purchased some edm lifters to use with my new Ultradyne cam. THey were the barbell looking type and I lost all oil pressure because they were uncovering on the downstroke. So my machinist ordered me a set of Howards Cams edm lifters. Got them in today and they are too tall! I thought all small block solid lifters were the same length. The seat where the pushrod seats is higher up in the body of the lifter as well. I would have to have pushrods at least .07 in shorter. Has anyone out there run into this? I'll call Howards Cams tomorrow but I was curious and hoped I might get an answer tonight.

I don't run Howards but I do understand they are taller and require shorter pushrods. A couple days from Smith Bros.

Yep....it is well known that the howards lifters require a shorter pushrod. I run them in my BB and saved some money because I was switching from a Hyd cam to a solid and my old hyd pushrods ended up being the perfect height with the howard solid lifters.

Sorry to say, but both of your issues are well known to Mopar builders...

I posted about the Howards EDM lifter pushrod height years ago. I run them, and like them. But the pushrod needed is shorter than the old MP solid lifters.

And those barbells...

Thanks for your replies. Guess my machinist should have known this. Now I need to decide if I should change lifters or get new pushrods.

.....or quicker!!! I have ordered from Smith when they had to make them up before shipping and recieved them the next morning!!
The 3 hour time difference really helps us East coast people. Ordered at 11:30 AM Eastern time and got them before 10:00AM the next morning with over-night shipping. The total cost was cheaper than Comp push rods would have been buying locally.

Bullet talked me out of using the edm's on my new UD grind, and sent me the "barbell's", after posting here concerning the possible oiling issues I called them and they encouraged me to send those back and sent me conventional solids. They told me the edm's are the same lifters with the oiling hole. They probably have edm's for your engine, that aren't the barbell style.
