What's the largest tire you've run or seen run without rubbing..

I have a set of 255/60-15's I wanted to put on the front temporarily while my 235/60-15's get new rims on them. Any trouble?

I have 255-60-15 tires on 15x7 rallys on the front of my 70 GTX and I don't have any rubbing issues.

I have 265/50R15s on 15x8 4.5BS (Ramcharger) steelies on mine. And it's lowered a bit. Never a rub.

I'd think 68-70 Chargers will have different about of room in different places than 68-70 Satelites and Coronets.

255x60x15" on the '69 R/T convertible. Every once in awhile they lightly catch the top of the wheel opening molding, but my T-bars are fairly soft.

What was the rims size and the backspacing.

Need to know this for every application.

7" rims, and (I think) 3.5" backspacing.

All you need to do is check the diameter of a G70-15 tire that came on the '69 A12's because they had to add a .250" shim under the bump stop to prevent it hitting "something" by the engineering drawings/specs.........that doesn't answer how wide the tire can be (if that's what you're asking) but as far as "what's the tallest tire you can put on a '68-'70 B-body to engineering concerns then a G70-15 or maybe a 15" 78-series tire should give you a ballpark answer.

the 16x8" wheels had a 4.5" backspace, the 17x8 wheels also have 4.5"

Here's my RR with the 265/50R15 fronts, 295/50R15 rears, all on same 15x8 Ramcharger steelies, 4.5 BS.
If I had it to do over again, I'd go with 60 series for more sidewall height; the 50s look a bit slim in side profile to me. Also, the 15x8s are a bit narrow for a 295 tire.
He's a bit of a workout when parallel parking, with that big-valve-cover lump in the nose and manual steering, if that matters, but I do like the way they fill up the width of the wheelwells.

Went to the garage and took this photo of the passenger front tire at full right lock.
This is the 255x60x15" tires:

You can see where the tire has caught the wheel opening molding, this usually only happens at high speed cornering. Topside's car looks like it sits higher than my car or 68killerbees car? I'd like to see the clearance on frankendusters Charger with the wheels at full lock? It looks like those rims may have more back space?
Here is a close up from my avatar pic:
