BergmanAutoCraft OP master B Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 3,577 Long Island, NY USA	I have a 23 spline A body unit dated June-73. How can I tell what gearset is in it. It has a 4.35 brg retainer, so I know its not an OD unit. Anyone?

JohnRR I Win Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 75,023 U.S.S.A.	Look at the gears , they may have a number of notches cut across the tips of the gear teeth, but I think a 73 would be a 2.47 first gear.

64dodge572 master 6 Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 4,285 Ohio	You can count the teeth on the input drive gear: 22 tooth 3.09 low, 24 tooth 2.66 low, or 25 tooth is 2.47 low gear. Could be 3.09 if it came from a 6cyl or 318, 2.47 from 340.
